Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pay/use a credit card before I can try Bookbinder?

No credit card or email address is required. To try out Bookbinder, just upload your book or create a new document. You'll instantly have access to all features.

You only need to pay when it's time to generate your eBook files.

Do I have to pay for each file format I download?

No. You only pay once per title/manuscript. So you can download in ALL formats (mobi/Kindle, generic epub, iBooks, Kobo, Nook) without affecting the price.

Do I have to pay every time I make changes to my book?

No. You only pay once and then you can make as many changes as you want and download as many times as you want.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Does my Word file need a table of contents?

Nope. Just create a document where the chapter titles are bold or a heading or just labeled Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. Bookbinder will figure out the rest. (Although, it wouldn't hurt to generate a table of contents...just to be safe.)

Can I include links to other pages in my book?

Absolutely. Every page created in Bookbinder has its own unique URL. You can find the URL in your browser's address bar or in the sidebar's table of contents (by by clicking on an item and copying the link location).

All you have to do is create a link using the Visual Editor with the relevant Bookbinder page URL.

When it's time to generate your eBook files, Bookbinder will automatically update the links to they point to the internal pages book of your eBook file.

Why should I use Bookbinder when Amazon says books uploaded to their store should be created using their conversion app, Kindlegen?

Bookbinder uses Kindlegen to create mobi files, so you shouldn't run into any compatibility issues when uploading a book created using Bookbinder.

Why are the Mobi/Kindle files so much bigger than ePub?

Bookbinder uses Amazon's official Kindle converter, Kindlegen, in order to create mobi files. Kindlegen creates various versions of the same book within one file (since many people still use older devices that may not be compatible with newer Kindle files).

Once you upload your book to Amazon, they will automatically separate the file and send a smaller version to customers based on the device they are using.
